Sick Kid
Carson suddenly came down with a fever yesterday afternoon. He hasn't been sick very often in his almost two years, just two ear infections and one 24-hour bug.
One of my favorite days I've spent with Carson was when he was about 10 months old and sick. Our day was spent lying on the couch together, snuggling. He napped on my chest on and off. As a child who slept only in his bed, I cherished being able to hold him while he slept, stroking his hair, rubbing his back.
This is the only memory I have of him where he enjoyed being held for more than just the time it took to feed him. It's the only time, besides when I would breastfeed him, where he wanted me over his Daddy.
If there's anything good about Carson being sick, is that he'll call for "Mama" today. It feels good to be needed.

Awwwww--how sweet. I hope Carson gets better quickly, but that you get in some good snuggle time in the meantime. (And here I thought I was the only one with a child who didn't like cuddling. If I try to bring him into our bed in the morning, he cries! Go figure.)
Poor Carson, i do love the snuggle times that come along with them being ill - i hope Ella stays nice and healthy (Sorry about lack of comments lately, for some reason i cannot access your blog from hubbys laptop where i do most of my commenting - but im always reading )

I feel so helpless when she is sick. My kid hardly gets sick but when she does...I feel it.

I hope Carson is feeling better soon. I'm sure you'll cherish the cuddling though. My son is the same way. He's been pretty healthy in his little life, but two times when he was sick I loved the cuddles.
Poor Carson. Matilda was the same way with snuggling though, no love for me unless she wasn't feeling good. Hope you guys have a good, cozy day.
Poor little monkey. I hope he's better soon. Better steal all the cuddles you can - Elliot is the same way when she's sick. The last time it happened I didn't even mind being puked on because we had lots of good snuggles.
Mommies are always the comfort parent. I like being the comfort parent too.
My favorite times are in the morning just as we wake up. Babyhead will come in and snuggle and says goodMORNING momMIE! We hug and snuggle and watch some tv for 30/45 minutes before we finally get up out of bed. I know DH gets annoyed that I let him in bed with us sometimes but I always miss it when I don't get that snuggle time with Babyhead and can tell a difference in my mood.
I hope he gets better soon...as far as being needed...you are his mom, you will always be needed.

I know exactly what you mean...I hate when the boys are sick or get hurt, but there's nothing like the warm feeling you get when all your child wants is you. Amazing.

I had a sick kid laying on my chest yesterday. I love that--the laying on the chest not the sick.
...though they are much quieter when they're sick.

WB has never slowed down long enough for a sofa-snuggle, not even in the middle of chicken pox, or flu. Sigh. I would have liked it.
Snuggles come for all kinds of reasons... "sick" probably tops them all.

As awful as it sounds to say...I enjoy it when our son is sick. He's likes to be held and is all sweet & calm and will snuggle...although it also breaks my heart to see him in pain.

Same thing happened with Little Man! We're home sick today (haha). It was a ROUGH night tho. :(
