Reminiscing
The other day when I was finishing up the final post about how Tate and I came to be, I read through several pages of old emails that we'd sent back and forth.
I copied a few of them and re-emailed them to Tate with a note saying something about "remember when you used to write me these sweet emails."
That night, we reminisced about the things we used to do in early love.
"Remember when we could sit and just stare at each other for hours?"
Oh yeah. I do remember.
"Remember when we used to talk for hours on the phone and never run out of things to talk about."
Yeah (said dreamily).
"Remember when we didn't fart in front of each other?"
[Insert Beavis and Butthead laughing]
"Remember when you didn't nag me so much?"
Ahh, those were the days.
"Remember when I didn't mind it when you touched me?"
[Sigh]
"Remember when we would rather do it instead of sleep?"
[Verrrrry heavy sigh]
"Remember what is was like before kids and we could sleep in, leave at a moments notice without packing for an army, or when our lives weren't dictated by naps?"
Meh. This life is far better.
***********
I currently have very limited access to a computer. I last checked my email on Saturday at 3:30, cannot view my site on this computer, and am having severe withdrawal symptoms that include interacting with people face-to-face rather than on the computer.
See you all in a few days.

26 People are even more brilliant:
Aaaaahhhh. The good old days. But your right, I wouldn't go back. EVAH. I like my life w/ a little (err alot of) chaos.
Yeah, I agree. Those pre baby years were nice...we used to live in an ocean front condo with our boat on a slip 30 yards from our front door...we had kayaks, and free time and money...but I wouldn't trade it. Life is much richer now.
My life was so completely different pre-baby (remember, we're talking 12 years ago) and I was so different, that reminiscing like that does me NO good LOL
Which one are you? Beavis or Butthead? LOL
LOL!
The memories are wonderful, but this life is definitely better!
Memories are so much fun. I love the "Remember when we could sit and just stare at each other for hours?". We used to do that too, but now it drives me nuts when my husband looks at me for too long. I always think something is wrong. Funny how life changes us.
Hope your internet withdrawl isn't too bad. And I hope you're blogging again soon.
I totally agree. The sweet sappy moments before kid were fun and exotic, but I'd never trade the life where I am a slave to the nap.
That is some serious reminiscing!
I don't remember life pre-baby :( DH and I got together with a kid (my DS) already in the mix! It was never just him and I...but we DO reminisce about when it was just the 3 of us! *lol*
Still wouldn't go back, though.
Although I could live without Nick Jr songs running through my head all the time!!
(P.S. I sympathize with the withdrawals!!! I hate when I'm puter-less!!!)
I think when I had my c-section they snuck some of my memory out too or something. Before kids? What?
I think I remember something about getting to sleep in on the weekends but, oh, its gone. Nevermind.
Sorry about the access. Happy Turkey Day to you and yours!
Ahhhh, I just did the same thing. I was cleaning out my inbox and found emails from when we were first married...every single one of our email exchanges were about where and who we were meeting after work for dinner and drinks.
Ah, the good old days.
Jay and I do this sometimes. It's kind of depressing when you realize how old and complascent you've gotten. Welcome to marriage, now say goodbye to romance! Enjoy your time away from the computer (if you can)... it's good for you, if you can bear it! ;)
My husband and I started out as a long distnace/email romance. I like that I have proof that once we were young and romantic. I can hold it over his head and show him actual pages of his words while I complain that he never does those things for me anymore!
Ah yes, those days. We reminisce about those days too. Especially the sleeping in and picking up and leaving whenever we want.
I hear ya! I much prefer my crazy, sleep deprived life. The occasional sex keeps me going.
I wouldn't trade my life now, but I vaguely remember the sleeping in and quite miss it.
Hope the computer is better soon!!
Yup. We had good 'ole days too.
Sigh.
When Bossy and her husband were courting they didn't have email. Just stone tablets and flint.
I'm pretty sure I've had this exact same conversation with my hubby .
Ah yes, I remember days like those. When your schedule wasn't dictated by a small, screaming being, subject to change at a moment's notice.
Haaa! My husband does this all the time... "remember when we used to sleep in?". Grrr. Funny. Sweet. So true.
I dimly remember those days. Never worrying about being caught. Sleeping in. Eating somewhere that doesn't have kids' meals as their main customer draw. Watching MY shows without shining in my ears.
You're right. That life is over rated. Bring on the chicken nuggets and cartoons!
Not interacting with people face-to-face. Come back home!
Remember when you actually romanticized the thought of having kids? I do. Funny how things change. I still wouldn't trade this life for my old one though (although a few hawt e-mails would be nice every once in awhile).
the hubs lured me into marriage with pedicures! yep, those stopped as soon as we said I do!
I remember those days from me and my honey, now we are lucky to get 3 minutes to ourselves and then we catch up on our day not just be together.
You said it, sister.
And just hold on a little longer! Soon you can bathe yourself in the internety-goodness once more! ;-)
