A Freebie

Tate had some errands to run tonight. I don't know if I've ever been so excited as I was tonight, knowing I would be able to play on the Internet without feeling guilty.

It's only been a short time since I've drastically cut down on my Internet time. And I gotta tell you, it's been a hard habit to break (you're going to have that Chicago song in your head now, aren't you?!). Every evening, Tate asks me if I need to do anything on the Internet and every night I lie and tell him "no."

When we're watching TV, all I can think about is the blogs I'd rather be reading, the emails I need to answer, the posts I wish I were writing. I can't really focus on anything, I'm so preoccupied with the computer.

I'm seriously addicted. It's like the forbidden fruit. I can't have it, so I want it more.

I miss commenting and reading and writing. There aren't enough hours in the day to balance my love of all things blogging and being a wife.

Clearly, I have issues.

If the Quality Husband Time is watching TV while you think about blogging, I'm not sure the Quality Husband Time IS more valuable than Blogging Time. Blogging Time is good, too. And watching TV side-by-side, while good time together in certain quantities, is not the Rich Milk Of Life Which Must Be Savored And Prioritized.

I'm with Swistle...TV is not quality time, unless you share the love of the same program or something. Is there room for a laptop in your budget?

I feel your pain.....I don't know how I will adjust my time when hubby gets back. Now after the kids go to bed, I have a good hour or two to just veg if I want to....

Holy crap I'm so with you on this. My husband is out again tonight as he was last night and I've been reading blogs for OVER AN HOUR and LOVING IT!
Hope you enjoyed your guilt-free time. It's great isn't it?

My husband recently announced he has an upcoming five day business trip, and of course he's feeling all guilty and I'm sitting there thinking about all the writing I can do without have to stop and watch him flex his biceps and then kiss them. That's right, he kisses them!

But I'm still milkin' this trip for all it's worth. No sense in us both changing diapers the week before he leaves :)

Uhhu. That's why I'm on at 1:06 AM. I was all, "no no, I'm just fine. Let's watch TV and talk about our wonderful children." Then after the first feeding, here I am! *sigh*

I was thinking you need a laptop, but I see someone already suggested that. That works for us. We can sit in the same room, talk, and watch TV. And if I'm not using the computer, Matt is. He's just as bad as me. But having a laptop is a saver. Plus I can use it more during the day since it's portable and I can use it whenever I want to check something quickly.

I wont tell you that Hubs has his computer (in the living room) and I have my laptop (in the living room). Were all about the togetherness and we don't like to share.

I must have issues then too. Here I was feeling all guilty about my internet time, and yet the hubs pretty much either reads at night or HE is at the computer.

And TV bores the crap out of me lately. All the blogs I read are much more entertaining and you can actually interact with them where TV just turns me into a zombie.

So in short - ya, I'm still addicted. Maybe we need to join a 12 step program?

I'm addicted too. In fact, right now I should be packing and about a million other things so we can leave on our 2 week trip tomorrow... but instead, here I am!!

Well now, the expert finagler I am, let me offer up this rule bending advice.

If you don't want to watch the TV program (and who says you have to? Because watching boring ass mythbuster and modern marvel shows constitutes together time? um?) start writing on *gasp* paper.

It's something about when you write on paper the men take it all serious. Like it's writing because writing as value if it's on paper vs writing on the computer is a waste of time.

The power of perception!

Oh my goodness, I totally do the same thing. I'm feeling very jealous right about now over your lack of guilt... since Hubby will be home any minute and there's no dinner on the table and my only reason is because I'm... um... blogging.

Okay, without reading the comments to see how many bazillion people I'm repeating, might I just say . . .

TV is not quality time. I would much rather be sitting with my hubby on dueling laptops than engrossed in TV.

He's going to have to do better than TV and couch if he wants to justify your blog diet :)

I get it. I have those same issues! (as I sit here at the computer and ignore the PILES of laundry and stuff to put away from vacation...)

My Husband is in the shower so I have time to check and shut off the monitor before he knows what I am doing. I am in the same addiction boat too!
