My Blog is Going to Have to be My Personal Trainer
I haven't mentioned my attempts at running lately. Remember how I am I was doing the Couch to 5K program? Also, I had a little wager working with Mrs. Flinger that we'd both at least walk 3 days a week or ELSE.
I'm facing the "or ELSE." I've failed to run, walk, or actually do anything besides continuing to be a lazy, cottage cheesy, slug. But I have excuses. Really, really good excuses.
See?
1. Well I am a slug.
2. I have had lots of blog related "work" to do.
3. It's been hot. Since March. And humid. Since the beginning of time.
4. My children are very demanding and expect to be fed several times a day.
5. A root has grown out of my ass and into the cushions of the couch, making it difficult to get up.
Never fear, though.
I'm back on track as of RIGHT! THIS! INSTANT! From now until Thanksgiving, I'm going to eat less, eat better, and drink at least 6 glasses of water a day. (I know "they" recommend 8, but I'm barely drinking 3, so I'm being realistic.) Also, I'm going to try and walk, maybe run, at least twice per week.
I'm motivated! I don't want my friends back home to see me this LARDY when we're back for Thanksgiving!
This post is merely acting as a disapproving personal trainer, shaking his head, holding a clipboard filled with my previous failed attempts, and blowing his whistle at me to GET OFF MY COMPUTER and REMOVE THAT ROOT FROM MY ASS.
Fine! I'm going. To run. And drink water. And hide my computer.

36 People are even more brilliant:
Amen! Our rain doesn't help here. Ewwwww, it's wet.
I find that when you snap your laptop closed real fast, you can cut that root. At least until another one sprouts.
Hey Good Luck! You can do it!!
I eat excessively well, work out 3-5 days a week, and still can't lose any more weight. It's a mother thing. Just stay on the couch; it almost doesn't seem to matter! ;)
It's been over 90 degrees here since May...I sweat just standing still - but I strap the wee-one into the jogging stroller and huff it down frat row on campus - only to lose - NOTHING! With that said, Good Luck :)
I always try to go walking too. i haven't be successfull at it either.
as I just told in the trenches,
i'm inspired.
even after half a box of mint milanos.
I am still inspired!
I hate running, but I really wish I would like it. It seems like such a good idea. I wanted to let you know about a DVD I got from Netflix - it was a Postnatal pilates. If you've ever tried pilates it's a pretty good workout and you can do it with the baby in your lap, or in your arms, or next to you. If you can get past the VERY cheezy things that lady says about how wonderful it is having a new baby and how you will be back in shape in no time and how much the baby will enjoy these workouts as much as you and how beautiful the butterflies are and life is just so good and pretty and you are doing so good and blah blah blah - it's a good routine. I had the dvd for awhile, then finally got sick Her and just wrote down the different parts of the routine and now I'll work on it with Liam every once in awhile.
Good luck! I'll be going back to work soon which means I will actually gain wait, because there's always food in the teacher's lounge. =) (and it's never good for you food, though everyone is always on a diet)
I have tagged your blog.. Please read about it and show us the evolution of you!!! Thanks.
I fell off the C25K wagon for awhile there too- it IS hard to find time to run when also juggling life with small kids. But I'm back in the saddle baby, and it feels good!
I like the idea of making Thansgiving some sort of health-related/exercising/weight loss goal. Can I join you?
I'll go drink some water too...
Good luck! I keep saying I'm going to start eating better and exercising, but my butt stays firmly planted to my chair. Hmmm...not sure this plan is working so well for me.
Maybe if you get started, I can use it as motivation to get going myself!
you really threw me with the Thanksgiving deadline as Thanksgiving is tomorrow here in Canada and just for a second i forgot that the world does not revolve around our frigid little holiday schedule, and i thought, damn she's funny!
then i remembered that you guys have six weeks or so til you feel as full of pie as i do right now.
can you, um, do a lap for me once you're off that couch? if it's not too much trouble?
okay. you rock. I sure wish that I was joining you. I have a good pal who wants to walk, hell i can't keep up with her at the mall let alone on a real walk. i think i will start with the water. one diet coke, one water, what do you think? its a start...
Well you've got my support! I'm doing my best just to drink more water. Lifting 50lb laundry baskets up and down the stairs, I guess doesn't count as a work out.
I find chocolate makes me very thirsty for lots and lots of water.
I've struggled with exercise since having kids, too. The chocolate helps me with meltdowns - mine and theirs but it also helps add to the cottage cheese ass. Good luck with running!
I will join you. I had been going to the gym EVERY morning but sick kids and traveling husband made that hard. I am ready to get back in the goove. I have a very cute outfit picked out at JCrew for Thanksgiving, and I must be fabulous in it!
I'd love to join you, but it is too flippin' hot. Not to mention that it is midnight.
The dogs always need walking, right? My dog's been pretty pissed at me lately.
I'm in for a challenge...could be *fun* heh.
Go girl.
I went to the gym 3 times this week.
I feel better already.
I'm going Tomorrow and Thursday too...then Saturday or Sunday...
Join me.
You know I swear that blogging has made me gain weight. Never did I sit this much before!
I think you look fabulous already. But you're gonna look even fabulouser!!
Good for you!!! Is there anyway to blog on the run?;)
I am right there with ya...I am supposed to be riding my exercise bike every day...but there is always something "better" to do than 10 minutes on the bike...
Though I am making a huge effort! We are going to go on vacation in April so I want to lose some weight before we go!
good luck.
i don't know what i was thinking when i signed myself up for a 5k. even though i fell off the c25k training circuit, too.
thought it would kick my butt into gear. so, i'm trying (and unfortunately, i don't have kids to be my excuse... i'm just lazy. and it's hot and humid here, too)
my 5k is in 2 weeks. um........
so, thanks for writing this!!!
it'll be my inspiration.
i'll think of you on my run......
good luck! you can do it.
think of all the fanastic blogs you can dream up!!!!
keep us posted.
Good for you! Now if only the root would remove itself from my ass, I could start running again too. Sigh.
I'm starting this diet thing too, I just posted about it!!!! Kinda spooky this is the 2nd time we have posted similar post!!! Anyway...Good Luck!!!!! Keep us posted on how your doing. As for me, I predict 2 days!!! I know you can do better than me!!!
It is already Thanksgiving here, so I'm screwed.
And even though I am a pregosaurus, I should actually make an effort to walk more. Maybe I'll get motivated to make a change before Christmas...
You can do it, you just have to believe in yourself!
Yesterday, I finished my first 10-miler.
6 Months ago, I'd barely even been able to wheeze my way through a single mile.
2 months after that, I jogged my way through my first 5k.
Remember, everything in life is a choice. You can choose to go for a walk or a jog, or you can choose to keep your ass on the couch. It's really that simple, but ultimately, it's up to you.
Schedule time to work out. Stick to it! Drink water! You can do it!
you mean typing doesn't count as exercise? oh no...
Hey lady! Good luck with the running program. About a year ago I decided I wanted to drink more water everyday. This was mostly the advice of my doctor, but I like to pretend it was my own. Anyway, I got one of those nagalene water bottles that holds like, 10 cups. I also developed an intense love for Crystal Light. Now, I drink about 3 litres of water a day (and have cut the Crystal light consumption in half, but it's nice to do when you first start). Anyway, that's what helped me with the water drinking... good luck!
Good luck! I will be rooting for you!
I'm with you. I quit my StrollerFit class & my ass has multiplied in size daily. My new motivation is to stare at myself in the mirror in bra & thong. Singing the Thong Song. It's scary on so many levels that I'm bound to get inspiration, right?
Yay for you!
I'm here cheering you on.
E-mail me for tips if you want!
I have no constructive comments to make on the running since I am in the same boat as you are. I did the Couch to 5K program and even signed up for a beginner's running program in Chicago, but a year later the running thing hasn't stuck.
I need to run also...
We should start a blogging thing, where we check up on each other, motivation or something?
I need someone to be on my ass bugging me to run...
Ye gads, I have a $3,000 treadmill parked next to my mommy mobile in the garage.
Two months after my second daughter was born I got really sick of being, how do I put this??? Ummm..FAT!
I'm not a big runner...so I started playing...drum roll.....TENNIS again. (After 15 years off the court.)
It's my workout of choice. So much fun, babysitting for free at the tennis club...nice people. Trust me, there are lots of leagues out there for all levels and it's really fun. If you're not into running or the gym it's a great alternative. (The bonus: I've lost a ton of weight playing!)
Ugh, just the idea of working out makes me tired. But the drinking water thing I have down. I recommend a refillable bottle - carry it with you all day, I think I drink at least 10 glasses a day (which really isn't as hard as it seems once you realize that by a "glass" they mean 8 oz). You can totally do that, and then, even if you don't run or hide your computer, you will at least be doing one out of three, which is pretty good.
I recommend the waiting approach, just wait to Ella is walking and you have TWO kids to run around after. For some reason its about 10 times tiring that just one
